About

Hi, I’m DocFlint – a visual artist based in Northumberland… and I do A LOT!

I’m a multipotentialite. I thrive on variety and feel stagnant when confined to one thing for too long.

Art is just one of many things. I’m also a functional dentist, managing a self-build (soon to be tradesperson and decorator!), and studying interior and lighting design. I’m really interest in how natural and artificial light affects our health. Beyond that, I take singing lessons, love dancing, enjoy long sunny walks, and embrace most adventurous activities. Next up? Learning to DJ – and maybe even music production.

The Excursive Movement
In dentistry an excursive movement is a sideways jaw shift, these sometimes effect the teeth. Here, it symbolises life’s side shifts – the unexpected detours that impact our lives, guiding us toward our true calling.

TEM is my space to explore, experiment, and express without the fear of perfectionism, judgment, expectations or rejection. It’s about embracing all parts of myself – and encouraging you to do the same.

This blog is for you if:

  • You need permission to pursue all your interests (consider it granted!).
  • You feel boxed in by societal pressure to niche down and specialise.
  • You sense it’s time for a change but don’t know where to start.
  • You crave a creative outlet and a community that gets you.
  • You feel like your identity is tied to what you do.

Here’s the truth:
It doesn’t matter what you do – it’s about who you are. Let’s get this straight, what you do quite literally has no bearing on your worth or identity. This is something I’m always learning as I release judgment around my multipotentiality and let go of an achievement-first mentality.

Real change happens when we move from our truth. By sharing my journey, I hope to inspire both myself and you to follow our creative impulses, live in alignment, and create a more authentic existence.

You feel me?

Welcome to the movement.
